Clinical history

First episode of reaction after wasp sting in 2020; Wasp was in her handbag, she rummaged through the bag to get to her keys -> sting; Reactions were mild with flush and slight nausea; As this occured during lockdown, she did not go to the hospital for a proper diagnosis; Family doctor prescribed antihistamines and corticosteroid tablets; No VIT was offered

No known allergies

Present situation

During a hike she was stung by a wasp on the upper arm; She fainted and experienced an anaphylaxis grade 4 and became unconscious; First aid was provided by a healthcare professional; Ambulance was called and she was hospitalised; Extreme nausea persisted for hours

Wasp and bee allergy?

  • ALEX³ was ordered by her GP since The hospital findings were too limited in detail to allow for a comprehensive interpretation.
  • Wasp and bee venom sensitisations were detected. Clinically relevant only for wasp venom.
