Closer to laboratories, physicians and doctors: MADx expands its international direct presence
Vienna, 21 August 2026
MADx, the Vienna-based company behind the ALEX allergy test, will commence direct marketing in five additional European markets – Italy, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Switzerland – and the USA as of 1 January 2027. Currently, these markets are served by local distribution partners only. This move is a strategic decision reflecting MADx’s international growth.
The company has grown significantly in recent years and now has the size and expertise to serve additional markets itself. MADx already has a direct presence in numerous countries including Austria, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, France, the Benelux countries, Scandinavia and Canada. With the new direct markets, MADx is moving closer to laboratories and the medical community in further key markets.
For MADx, the direct approach is more than an organisational matter. It enables the company to receive feedback and input directly from those who work with the tests daily in laboratories, clinics and practices. And it provides personal contacts directly with the manufacturer – close to the know-how and technology.
Science is also moving closer. MADx collaborates in around 35 research partnerships worldwide, including with the Medical University of Vienna, the University of Pilsen and the Charité. This exchange is now also immediately available to partners in the new markets. As more feedback from practice will reach the manufacturer directly in the future, experiences from laboratories, clinics and medical practices will have an even greater influence on the further development of ALEX.
“We are convinced that the best diagnostics happen where research and application meet,” says Dr Christian Harwanegg, CEO of MADx. “ALEX was created with us in exactly this way, and we want to expand this closeness with laboratories, physicians and doctors. This way, new knowledge arrives directly where development takes place. We look forward to this.”
MADx will be providing the complete infrastructure for ordering, support and technical service in the new markets. From January 2027, laboratories, clinics, physicians and doctors can contact MADx directly.
